Tea harnesses a wide array of health benefits and it is comparatively healthier and just as widely consumed as coffee. If you are a regular hot or cold tea drinker, then you won't be surprised to also learn that it has great advantages for skin care.
Why Tea?
Tea is rich in polyphenols, a group of plant-based chemicals, specifically flavonoids, that are an excellent source of antioxidants. There are more subgroups (such as catechins), medical names and varying degrees of compositions in different types of tea. Though it is generally agreed that tea increases antioxidant tissue function and it can improve the appearance of the skin.
Scientific studies have actually shown that skin elasticity improved after an eight-week trial of green tea drinkers among 40 women of varying ages and skin conditions, and some studies show that white tea has a more potent effect.

Why antioxidants? S l o w... d o w n... t h e... a g i n g... p r o c e s s. We all know that antioxidant-rich diets are often followed in order to reduce wrinkles and fine lines on the skin, improve firmness and provide a healthier appearance. And there are many ways in which to do that - both topically, using antioxidant supplements or by sipping a cup of tea several times a day. If you are looking to incorporate green tea into your skin care routine, try organically harvested teas for their potency.
Antioxidants also boost your skin’s moisture and keep it hydrated. Moisture is very important to make sure premature aging is kept at bay. During the winter, a well-hydrated, clear and naturally glowing skin will be easier to maintain if your drink has a little more oompf in the antioxidant department.
What teas?
